Health-care providers are required to intervene, just like any person, in case of imminent danger, in order to prevent FGM and cannot hide behind professional confidentiality when it comes to:

• Put a stop to FGM when he is informed about it during the practicing of his profession, warning the competent authorities (article 223-6, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code, repressing the omission of preventing a crime or an offence against physical integrity).
• Failure to assist a person in danger (article 223-6 paragraph 2 of the Penal Code, repressing the omission to help or the failure to assist a person in danger).
